One speech written as two
Sometimes a script has a character's name, some of their lines, and then the same name again with more lines — and nothing else in between. To a reader that looks like an interruption that never happened. The app notices, and offers to join the two halves back into one.
What it looks like
Professionally this is one speech. The pause and the change of tone belong inside it, as a parenthetical, not under a fresh copy of the name:
Why it matters
- It reads wrongly. A repeated name says "somebody cut in" — that is what
(CONT'D)is for — and here nobody did. - It costs page space. Each needless name-line is about two lines of page, and a page is about a minute of screen time.
This usually comes from a generated draft: the writing model wants a parenthetical part-way through and starts a fresh cue to get one. The app deliberately does not print (CONT'D) on the second name, because no interruption happened — see (CONT'D) and (MORE).
What the app does about it
On the script page, the panel on the right lists them under Cues Printed Twice, with the character's name and two choices: Merge, which keeps every line and removes only the repeated name, or Leave it. It is always offered and never done for you — merging deletes a line from your script, and that is your call.
